Thanksgiving Food Baskets

CornucopiaThis year marks our 5th anniversary for assisting area families in providing a Thanksgiving meal on a large scale.  We will again be using Angel Food Ministries to provide food for baskets that we will purchase with monetary donations.  AFM is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that provides food relief for families who are struggling financially. For each basket purchased, we will receive $1 back to be donated to our SLDM food pantry.  You can also sign up to donate a basket that you purchase.  We have pared down the grocery list this year in order to provide Thanksgiving meals to more families. The smaller grocery list may allow some families to donate more than one basket.

We need volunteers to:

+ Purchase a food basket from grocery list below ($36)

+ Donate money to purchase a food basket ($36)

+ Make phone calls to volunteers

+ Run mapquests to assist with delivery

+ Pick up our order from Angel Food Ministries on November 21

+ Help coordinate drop off/delivery of baskets on November 21

+ Deliver food baskets to families on November 21

Food Basket Grocery List

10-15 lb. turkey and disposable turkey roasting pan                            
1 box instant mashed potatoes                                          
2 stuffing mix                                                 
2 cans gravy                                                             
2 cans green beans and 2 cans corn


1 can cranberry sauce
2 cans fruit
2 muffin/cornbread mix                                            
1 dessert mix (brownies, cake mix/icing, cookie mix
