In our Catholic tradition we have honored the holy men and women before us with patronage by choosing a Catholic saint name for our Confirmation. Our bishop has asked that boys choose male saints and ladies choose female saints. A great option is to use your Baptismal name (if you were chosen after a saint) to strengthen the sacramental connection for Confirmation. Here is a link for many more beautiful saints in our church. If a student does not choose their Baptismal name as their Confirmation saint, it should be a saint whose life speaks to them in some way. It could be a saint for whom a family member is named, a patron of an activity that the student enjoys, or one whose life speaks to the student in a certain way. St Isidore is the patron of video games. St Clare is the patron of TV. St Sebastion is the patron of athletes the list literally goes on and on.
