Holy Week is regarded as one of the holiest seasons in the liturgical calendar. It is in Holy Week that we walk in time with Christ.
First, set aside time each day of the week to participate in the beautiful liturgies offered.
Second, Read the Gospel of Mark 11:1-10 the night before. Decorate the house with Palms.
Third, you can make a Holy Week Tree. Pull a verse for each day of the week and meditate on it. (Take a few twigs and place in decorated purple jar to attach verses to).
Fourth, you can watch this short video about Holy Week.
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are days to remember that Jesus was in the temple teaching, healing, and being a witness of how we are to live.
Here are some Lenten activities for Sunday to Wednesday.
Holy Thursday is the first day of the Triduum. The Triduum is three very Holy Days of the Church that lead to the Easter Season.
If you want to take time to meditate and pray with scripture through a lectio divina style or Ignation Meditation we have a mini retreat for moments of silence.
Here are some meditations for Triduum.
Plan a special meal for Holy Thursday.
As Jesus was teaching in the temple, others were preparing for the passover meal. How can the family come together and plan a special meal that will build great memories? Also, it is a good idea to tie in themes of the passover meal. Here are a few suggestions.
We remember that this is a day of mourning. Jesus was arrested in the night. He was dragged from one place to another and beaten with mental and physical ills. If you watch today's services you will hear the seven final words of Christ and be able to venerate the cross.
Here are suggestions for Good Friday.
