Every parishioner is invited to join us at one of our “My Role Session” as we introduce our 2022-2024 Pastorate Vision Plan.
In these sessions we will explore:
We need every parishioner engaged in our plan to live out our mission.
As we approach the final weeks of school and the weather continues to get warmer, many are finalizing plans for summer vacations, family get-togethers, or road trips. I can remember toward the end of a semester in college when a few buddies excitedly proposed taking a road trip together. I eagerly agreed to join them, but it was only later in the day I finally thought to ask the all-important question: “Where are we going?” My friends hadn’t really thought that far… and maybe that’s an indicator of the intelligent guys I used to hang out with! After much discussion, we eventually reached an agreement. Three days later, I thought of the next important question: “Who’s got the car?” No one had thought of that, either.
I recall this hilarious memory of my youth in the context of my role as pastor at this incredible parish. Within the first months of my time here (nearly two years ago!), parishioners eagerly asked me about what initiatives and ideas I had in mind for SLDM. In other words, “Where are we going?” And my response was typically, “I need time to get to know the parish and its history!” In other words, you can’t start moving somewhere until you first know where you are. It’s still a process, but I’ve learned so much in 21 months!
As a parish, we should want clarity as to where we are going… and how we are going to get there. And maybe that’s the first thing every parishioner needs to know: St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church and School is going places. We are on the move, because Christ commissioned His Church to live out His own mission and assured us of His Presence until “the end of the age” (see Mt 28:18-20). But it took much parish input and many conversations over the past year to gain clarity and confidence on the specifics of where our parish is heading over the next three years. How we are going to get there is detailed in the goals and tactics of our newly released Pastorate Vision Plan for 2022-2024. These should have arrived in your mailbox, but if not, grab a copy from the Narthex or download HERE.
I urge you to read every detail of our Pastorate Vision Plan. I want you to know where we are going. And I also urge you to consider attending one of the “My Role Sessions” in the near future (see below for how to sign up). Because in reality, how we are going to get there is YOU. Each parishioner will play a part, and we want to help you discover what part Our Lord wants you to play, and how He wants to grow your faith.
Road trips are exciting. Especially when you know where you are going! This journey we are on as a parish is going to be much more exciting than any road trip, because God has invited us into His mission and we each have a unique role to play. I hope every parishioner is enthused about being a part of St. Louis de Montfort. I think we have a great plan, and I think it’s time to get moving.
Under the Mercy,
Father Haan
